MAKING A SPLASH FOR OUR COMMUNITY
Maccabi Victoria to Launch Maccabi Aquatics, a community partnership with Bialik College.
Maccabi Victoria is excited to announce the launch of Maccabi Aquatics – a full service swim school – to commence operating in Term 4, 2021. Maccabi Aquatics will offer a full range of programs including: Learn-to-Swim; Junior, Senior & Masters Squads; Water Aerobics; Fitness Squads; and All Abilities classes.
Maccabi Aquatics has been established with the generous support of the Maccabi Victoria Sports Foundation, as part of a long-term partnership between Maccabi and Bialik and will operate solely for the benefit of the community. Maccabi will run the swim school, which will be based at the Bialik College Gringlas Sports Centre Pool. Over time, all surplus funds earned by Maccabi Aquatics will flow back into the community via Maccabi and the Bialik Foundation.
Maccabi Aquatics will offer pathways for competitive swimming under the banner of the existing Maccabi Ajax Swimming Club which was one of the state’s premier clubs in the 1970’s & 80’s. By creating a home for Jewish Swimming at Bialik and an established competitive pathway, our aim is to reinvigorate Jewish swimming in Melbourne to ensure a vibrant, growing and successful Maccabi Swimming Club into the future. Maccabi Aquatics will also work closely with Bialik and its sports department in running curriculum swimming, school swim squads and fitness, health & wellbeing aquatic programs at the College.
We look forward to providing further details on this exciting new initiative closer to its commencement. In the meantime, please email hello@maccabiaquatics.com or visit https://www.maccabiaquatics.com to register your interest.
Maccabi Victoria President, Brian Swersky said: “Maccabi is proud to form an alignment with Bialik College to create this unique community social enterprise. The desire to maximise the use of our community facilities and resources by our community is now a reality and this is only the beginning of an ongoing collaboration. I hope that our unique “social bond” funding model and co-operation can be an inspiration for other community organisations to work more closely together.”
Maccabi Aquatics Chairman, Barry Carp said: “I am so proud of the way that two major communal organisations, Maccabi and Bialik have worked together to deliver an exceptional outcome for Jewish swimming and the Jewish community more generally”.
Bialik College President, Kate Beaconsfield said: “Bialik is excited about this community partnership that brings together two vibrant Jewish organisations. This strategic alliance is a wonderful example of how the community can work together. We look forward to working with Maccabi in an initiative that we believe will benefit both our organisations and the broader Jewish community”.
